It all started back in 1866 when Jerome S. Williams put up this two-story brick building, and it’s had a ton of different lives since then:
Industrial start: Believe it or not, the first floor was actually an apple vinegar works until 1870.
The town's go-to spot: Upstairs used to be the first public meeting hall in Stroudsburg, hosting all our dances and community gatherings way back in the day.
Offices & treats: Around 1905, it became the home base for Dr. Joseph H. Shull and his family’s medical and law practices, and later on, we had Edinger’s Ice Cream Parlor with a sweet little garden in the back. By 1928, it was even serving as a local office for the power company.
A lot of us might still know it by its old-school name, the "Hollinshead Block"—you can see it on all those vintage postcards of town. Even though they squared off the roof and gave it that flatter, boxier look back in the 30s, if you look closely, you can still spot the original stone window arches and those cool terra cotta panels under the belt course.
In more recent times, it’s really been the place to be for a drink or a bite to eat:
Siamsa: Most of us remember when it opened as Siamsa Irish Pub back in 2004, which brought that authentic, custom-built bar over from Ireland.
Vault 636: Now it’s Vault 636, keeping that history alive by nodding to the building’s time as a bank. They’ve kept that original Irish bar as the centerpiece, so it’s still the same great social cornerstone we’ve always relied on for a good night out.
