SWIFTWATER, Pa. — The Pocono Mountain School District is taking proactive steps to enhance its educational programs and engage with parents more effectively as part of its ongoing commitment to student success. During a recent board meeting, district officials discussed the launch of an important survey designed to gather critical feedback from parents.
The Title I Parent Engagement and Comprehensive Planning Survey aims to help the Pocono Mountain School District better understand and address the needs of its students for the upcoming school year. Available online through the district’s website, the survey invites all families with students enrolled in the district to share their thoughts and suggestions on various aspects of education, such as instructional strategies, family involvement opportunities, and ways to foster a positive learning environment.
Pocono Mountain School District is designated as a schoolwide Title I district, which means it receives federal funding aimed at supporting schools where 40% or more of the students are from low-income families. This designation allows the district to allocate these funds broadly across all its nine schools, including Clear Run Elementary Center, Swiftwater Elementary Center, Tobyhanna Elementary Center, Pocono Mountain East High School, and Pocono Mountain West High School.
The survey is part of the district's broader commitment to comply with federal requirements under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). ESSA mandates that districts engage parents in meaningful ways regarding the development, implementation, and review of school programs for Title I students. By conducting this parent input survey, Pocono Mountain School District is fulfilling its obligation to involve families in decision-making processes related to educational planning.
“Parent feedback is invaluable as we work to create a supportive and effective learning environment,” said Dr. Lisa Rapp, Superintendent of the Pocono Mountain School District. “We encourage all parents to take part in this survey so that our plans for the upcoming school year can truly reflect the needs and aspirations of our community.”
In addition to the parent survey, the district continues to provide a full range of educational services across its nine schools, as well as its K-12 cyber program. The Pocono Mountain School District’s mission is clear: to prepare all students for success in their academic pursuits and beyond.
Locals are reminded that the survey deadline has not yet been set but that prompt submissions will ensure that feedback is incorporated into planning efforts moving forward. For more information or to access the survey, visit the district's official website at [pmsd.org](https://www.pmsd.org).
